LTI Offers Conversion of GSAFD Genre/Form Headings to LCSH

LTI has completed testing of an option to convert form/genre headings listed in Guidelines on Subject Access to Individual Works of Fiction, Drama, Etc. (GSAFD) to LC headings. Of 153 terms in the GSAFD list, most are identical to the LC term. The remainder have equivalent terms in LC.

For libraries using this option, GSAFD terms, found in bibliographic records tagged as:

655 _7 $a[Term]$2gsafd

will be converted to:

655 _7 $a[Term]$2lcsh

If the library's profile includes the option to convert tagging to "new style", in which the indicator is coded for the LC thesaurus, that heading will be revised in the output bibliographic file to:

655 _0 $a[Term]
